Alex
\nPereira<\/a> is far from impartial when it comes to the
\nUFC 328<\/a> main attraction.<\/p>\n

Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> (30-7) is scheduled to challenge Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> (15-0) for the middleweight title in the main event at
\nUFC 328. The two will collide on May 9 at the Prudential Center in
\nNewark, New Jersey. To get some hard sparring in, Strickland roped
\nin Pereira to help finalize his camp. The two former foes collided
\nat UFC 276 in 2022, with \u201cPoatan\u201d crushing Strickland in the first
\nround. An unlikely friendship bloomed from the one-sided
\nshellacking.<\/p>\n

Due to their growing kinship, Pereira will be rooting hard for
\nfriend Strickland. \u201cPoatan\u201d says he had learned a lot since he
\nstarted working with Strickland a few years ago, so much so that he
\nhas become a cornerman for Strickland. Pereira lauded Strickland\u2019s
\nprecise jab as one of the American\u2019s best weapons, while
\nprognosticating that the jab and front kick will be key weapons
\nagainst Chimaev\u2019s wrestling pressure. Pereira said on a UFC 328
\nCountdown video<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore our fight, I saw him differently,\u201d Pereira admitted. \u201cBut
\nonce he stepped into the Octagon, you could see it on his face, he
\nwas a different guy. He is a warrior. The first time we trained
\ntogether was after our fight. I learned a lot from those sessions;
\nhe\u2019s got a lot of experience. He knows his craft. He\u2019s always
\nmoving forward, firing that jab. That\u2019s a great weapon he has.
\nEveryone knows that I\u2019m rooting for Sean
\nStrickland<\/a>. He\u2019s got to stay composed, keep pressing forward,
\nstay alert, watch out for the takedowns, and use his jab and front
\nkick. I\u2019m really excited and motivated for this fight, and I hope
\nhe gets the win.\u201d<\/p>\n

After vicious knocking out Strickland, the Brazilian went on to win
\nthe middleweight title against Israel
\nAdesanya<\/a> in his next fight, only to lose it in their immediate
\nrematch. Adesanya then dropped his title to Strickland in a huge
\nupset, but Strickland and \u201cPoatan\u201d did not run it back because the
\nBrazilian had other plans. Moving up to 205 pounds, Pereira instead
\nwon that title and defended it thrice within a year. The
\n38-year-old has subsequent moved up to heavyweight to challenge
\nCiryl
\nGane<\/a> at the White House on June 14, effectively removing any
\npossibility of him facing Strickland again.<\/p>\n
