\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> head Dana White had few answers
\nfor his actions a couple years ago.<\/p>\n

At a New Year\u2019s Eve celebration in Mexico at the end of 2022, White
\nwas
\nfilmed slapping his wife<\/a> in the midst of a physical
\naltercation. As seen in the video, he appeared to grab wife, Anne,
\nby the wrist, and she struck him in the face. He responded by
\nslapping her back, before others intervened. White received no
\npublic punishment from his organization, and no charges were
\nfiled.<\/p>\n

White and his wife both explained later that alcohol played a
\nfactor into tensions escalating between them, resulting in them
\nslapping one another. After regularly declaring that \u201cthere is
\nnever an excuse for a man to put his hands on a woman,\u201d he did so
\nand did not receive any notable consequences. White suggested that
\nthe stigma of him doing so was his punishment, that he would always
\nbeen known as a man who struck his wife.<\/p>\n

Rules for thee, not for me<\/h2>\n

Appearing on a recent episode of \u201cThe Breakfast
\nClub\u201d<\/a> hosted by Charlamagne tha God, Jess Hilarious, DJ Envy
\nand Loren LoRosa, White was asked numerous challenging questions
\nranging from the operation of the UFC to his incident with his
\nwife. Putting White on the spot, Charlamagne asked the UFC
\npresident what would happen if a fighter was filmed striking their
\npartner in a public setting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s happened, don\u2019t you [know],\u201d White retorted. \u201cYou know what\u2019s
\nfunny is that\u2026it\u2019s not funny but, I used to say that you don\u2019t
\nrecover from those [offenses]. Those are the ones you don\u2019t recover
\nfrom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlamagne replied, \u201cBut you did.\u201d White\u2019s response? \u201cI did.\u201d<\/p>\n

White tried to push back that being in charge of the company
\nprotected him from any recompence, but the hosts were not having
\nit. Jess Hilarious pointed out that he specifically, publicly
\nannounced that he would not be stepping away from the UFC after
\nthis occurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a board of directors, there\u2019s other people that are
\ninvolved [in the decision-making process] that could have pushed
\nfor [his removal], but I think, and obviously they think too, it
\nwould have hurt the company more if I did step away,\u201d White
\nexpressed.<\/p>\n

When challenged that he had disciplined fighters in the past for
\ntheir comments or conduct, he claimed he was far less harsh than
\nanother sports leagues would be to those who violated code of
\nconduct policies. Of note, Miguel
\nTorres<\/a> was
\nbriefly released<\/a> for making a reference to a crude joke in the
\ntelevision show \u201cWorkaholics,\u201d Matt
\nMitrione<\/a> was suspended<\/a>
\nfor his statements about transgender fighter Fallon Fox<\/a>
\nand Nate
\nDiaz<\/a> was also
\nsuspended<\/a> for his words on Twitter in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m probably the most lenient guy in sports when it comes to
\ndealing with\u2026free speech or bad things that happen. I\u2019m in the
\nfight business, it\u2019s not like I run Microsoft,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

The interview took a turn when Charlamagne asked White what
\nstandard he held himself to when handling this debacle. An
\nuncomfortable White shifted in his chair and adjusted his suit
\njacket while stumbling over his words for an answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, obviously, that\u2019s not\u2026that\u2019s not what\u2026it was\u2026yeah, I mean
\nthis is as bad as it could get. I mean, I hold myself to\u2026I would
\nnever in a million years think that that was going to happen,\u201d he
\noffered.<\/p>\n

White gathered himself and continued, \u201cI say this all the time,
\nnobody knows you better than your kids do. And, whoever you really
\nare, your kids see it. They hear everything that goes on at home,
\nand\u2026my oldest son didn\u2019t talk to us for like four days. He was in
\ncollege, so [age] 19 probably, 19-20. The first thing that [my
\nwife] and I did was handle the situation with the kids. And then,
\nobviously, I had to handle the business side of the whole thing. We
\nhandled the kids first.\u201d<\/p>\n
