\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> star McGregor has often been a
\nsubject for discussion since his last fight in July 2021 when
\nDustin
\nPoirier<\/a> broke his leg in their trilogy match. Regularly
\ninjecting himself into championship conversations, keeping himself
\nin the news by floating things like
\nvying for the middleweight belt<\/a>, he has been regularly asked
\nabout by fans and media members alike.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, UFC chief Dana White appeared on \u201cThe Jim Rome
\nShow,\u201d<\/a> where he spoke about McGregor\u2019s future with the
\npromotion. White explained upfront that the relationship between
\nMcGregor and the company is indeed in a good place. He further
\nnoted that the comeback for the Irishman, who will turn 38 in July,
\nis in the works. McGregor himself often posts
\nphotos and videos of his training<\/a> to get in shape for his next
\nmatch.<\/p>\n

The cure for the summertime blues<\/h2>\n

If what White says comes to fruition, McGregor could be back in the
\nOctagon sooner than most think. He has been rumored for a return on
\nInternational Fight Week, where he could serve as the headliner to
\nUFC
\n329<\/a> on July 11\u2014three days before his birthday\u2014in Las Vegas
\nrematching Max
\nHolloway<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in a great place with Conor,\u201d White remarked. \u201cI\u2019m extremely
\nconfident that Conor will fight this year. I\u2019m extremely confident
\nthat we\u2019ll get him dialed in and ready to roll. He\u2019s training,
\nthere\u2019s footage out there of him in training right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed for more details by broadcaster Jim Rome, White kept
\nhis cards close to the vest but did reveal a bit more
\ninformation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t announced anything yet,\u201d the UFC President and CEO said
\nwith a laugh. \u201cHe\u2019ll fight this summer. Let me just start there.
\nHe\u2019ll fight this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that the man known as \u201cNotorious\u201d has
\nbeen linked to a comeback fight. For a few years, McGregor was
\nexpected to face rival \u201cThe Ultimate Fighter\u201d coach Michael
\nChandler<\/a>, but that fell apart due to a McGregor injury. He was
\nalso handed an 18-month suspension from Combat Sports Anti-Doping
\nfor missing his whereabouts disclosures three times, with that ban
\nending in March. White feels things are different now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought [his comeback] would happen last year. It didn\u2019t. I\u2019m
\nextremely confident it will happen this summer. He seems motivated,
\nhe\u2019s training, and there are a lot of other great things going on
\nbehind the scenes that make me very confident that he will fight
\nthis summer,\u201d White stated with gusto.<\/p>\n
