It was the second consecutive defeat for the<br \/>\n29-year-old Aussie, who relinquished the welterweight strap to<br \/>\n<a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Islam-Makhachev-76836\">Islam<br \/>\nMakhachev<\/a> at <a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/events\/UFC-322-Nov-15-109394\">UFC 322<\/a><br \/>\nthis past November.<\/p>\n<h2>Pride and Gratitude<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThanks for all the love and support,\u201d Della Maddalena wrote on<br \/>\nInstagram. \u201cI could not be prouder to represent my gym [Scrappy MMA<br \/>\nand Fitness[ , my family, my city and country. Not the desired<br \/>\nresult this time around but it was in line with the desired<br \/>\nchallenge; fighting the most vicious and toughest opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Della Maddalena won 18 consecutive professional outings from 2016<br \/>\nto 2025 before his current two-bout skid.
