Chimaev lost his middleweight title to Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> via split decision at UFC 328 earlier this month. It
\nis no secret that Chimaev had a terrible weight cut, which also
\nlikely affected his performance. <\/p>\n

Chimaev looked visibly drained during the official weigh-ins, which
\ndid not go down without controversy. Chimaev was only on the scale
\nfor a few moments before the official called 185 pounds. Fans and
\npundits noticed that the scale hadn\u2019t even settled before Chimaev
\nstepped down. Strickland, Bryce
\nMitchell<\/a>, Bobby Green and others have accused Chimaev of
\nfailing to make weight. <\/p>\n

Nothing Amiss<\/h2>\n

However, Chimaev\u2019s close friend, Tsarukyan, claims \u201cBorz\u201d couldn\u2019t
\npossibly have missed weight at the official weigh-ins. According to
\nTsarukyan, the
\nUFC<\/a> confirms a fighter\u2019s weight on an automatic scale backstage
\nbefore letting them proceed to the official manual scale.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe made weight,\u201d Tsarukyan said on the “Jaxxon Podcast\u201d<\/a> \u201cBecause, before the official
\nweigh-ins, you go to one more weigh-in. The UFC checks your weight,
\nand if you\u2019re good there, they let you go. If there is 186 on the
\nautomatic scale, you cannot go to the official one.\u201d <\/p>\n

Chimaev (15-1) has had weight-cutting issues in the past as well,
\neven leading to the reshuffling of the entire UFC 279 card in 2022.
\nWhile Dana White claimed that Chimaev wants to move up to light
\nheavyweight after UFC 328, the former middleweight champ has since
\nexpressed interest in avenging his loss against
\nStrickland. <\/p>\n
