Roy Jones Jr. doesn\u2019t see a need for boxing to follow the
\nUFC<\/a>\u2019s model. <\/p>\n

The UFC\u2019s parent company, TKO Group, has entered the world of
\npugilism with Zuffa boxing. UFC head honcho Dana White and Zuffa
\nare currently pushing for revisions to the Muhammad Ali Act,
\nenacted in 2000 to protect fighters from exploitation. White aims
\nto create a Unified Boxing Organization that would bring boxing
\nunder a central banner, akin to the UFC for MMA. <\/p>\n

However, the likes of Nico Ali Walsh, Oscar De La Hoya and Jones
\nJr. are actively lobbying against White\u2019s proposal. Jones argues
\nthat Zuffa\u2019s structure will eventually kill fighters\u2019 individuality
\nand earning power.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they do what they are doing right now, our sport is over in
\nthis country,\u201d Jones told FightHype<\/a>. \u201cYou don\u2019t have no more personality. You
\ndon\u2019t have no more style. You don\u2019t have no more individualism. You
\ncan\u2019t be an individual no more. You belong. You\u2019re just a
\nsheep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Time to Wake Up<\/h2>\n

While the Zuffa model promises consistency, boxers at the highest
\nlevel typically earn more than MMA fighters of the same level.
\nJones notes that UFC fighters like Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a> and Francis
\nNgannou<\/a> earned more in boxing than in their entire UFC career.
\nJones further believes that Zuffa\u2019s model would give the promotion
\nunchecked power.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of your athletes left your sport, came to boxing, and made
\nmore in one fight or two fights than they made their whole career
\nwith you,\u201d Jones said. \u201cIf Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a> made more money in one fight than he made his whole
\ncareer, why do I want your model in my game?… If they don\u2019t like
\nyou or you say something against them, you cannot be world champion
\nbecause they don\u2019t like you and you got nobody to fight for your
\nside. Y\u2019all better wake up.\u201d<\/p>\n
