Scott Coker is back.<\/p>\n

Per a press release and post on
\nsocial media<\/a> on Thursday, the former head of Strikeforce<\/a> and Bellator MMA<\/a> announced himself as returning to run a
\nnew MMA organization yet to be named at this time. Based on the
\nemail correspondence, it may be coined some variation of \u201cStrike
\nMMA,\u201d but that could be a working title. To garner support to put
\ntogether a new MMA league, Coker has teamed up with several
\ndeep-pocketed investors and names familiar with the entertainment
\nindustry.<\/p>\n

Of note, Kevin Kay, former President of Paramount as well as Spike
\nTV, will be on the investor and advisory group running this org. He
\nhas also gained the support of ex-Viacom chief financial officer
\nWade Davis, former Sony Pictures TV chair Steve Mosko, owner of
\nD.C. United and a massive asset management company Steve Kaplan. In
\nterms of household names, skateboarding icon Tony Hawk will also be
\nchipping in. This promotion will be formed as a collaborative
\neffort between Coker and Griffin Gaming Partners co-founder Peter
\nLevin, who previously served as a proponent of Strikeforce before
\nits acquisition by the Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When the time was right<\/h2>\n

In his third noteworthy bite at the MMA apple\u2014he did run a
\nfew recent events<\/a> in San Jose, California, while trying to drum
\nup business for a larger project\u2014Coker is just as energized and
\nthrilled as ever.<\/p>\n

In his press release, the newly crowned CEO said, \u201cI always knew I
\nwanted to come back when the time was right, with the right vision
\nand a carefully curated team. That time is now. There is an
\nincredible demand for a fresh, new global brand in MMA. This new
\nleague is about returning to what matters: the integrity of
\ncompetition, respect for the athletes and sharing their remarkable
\njourneys with the world. We are building something authentic,
\nsomething that belongs to the athletes and to the fans who live and
\nbreathe this sport. I’ve spent nearly two years developing this
\nconcept, and I’m thankful to Peter, all of our investors and the
\nteam we’re putting together.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the official details are still being worked out, including
\nhow the league will operate and how many events they wish to hold,
\nthe team is amped up and ready to get going. Levine expressed ample
\nappreciation for Coker\u2019s previous body of work, while sharing
\nexcitement for the future.<\/p>\n

He explained on the press release, \u201cScott is a generational
\noperator in the world of combat sports. He has proven time and
\nagain that he can scale a business globally and profitably. His
\n\u2018fighter-first’ orientation has earned him loyalty and admiration
\nfrom MMA athletes around the globe and across generations. He\u2019s a
\nworld-beater, and I\u2019m looking forward, yet again, to embarking on
