Shields was in attendance at MVP\u2019s first MMA event last Saturday at
\nthe Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. The three-division
\nwomen\u2019s boxing world champion confronted fellow boxer Alycia
\nBaumgardner backstage and slapped her. <\/p>\n

Shields didn\u2019t show any regret and accused Baumgardner of disrespecting her<\/a>.
\nMeanwhile, Baumgardner said that she showed restraint as a
\nprofessional. \u201cThe Bomb\u201d also accused Shields of displaying
\nrepeated hostility against fellow women and instigating fights.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your purpose is to elevate, there will always be people who
\nattempt to pull you down to the level from which they operate,\u201d
\nBaumgardner wrote on X. \u201cThe situation that occurred on Saturday
\nwas unprovoked and entirely consistent with the individual
\ninvolved. While attending Most Valuable Promotions’ inaugural MMA
\nevent as a guest, I was physically assaulted without provocation.
\nThis behavior follows a continued pattern from someone who has
\npublicly celebrated other fighters’ brain injuries, initiated
\none-sided altercations at press conferences, and consistently
\ndisplayed hostility toward other women. That conduct is
\nunacceptable and should not be tolerated in any professional sport.
\nThis behavior reflects a repeated pattern of hostility, chaos, and
\nattention-seeking conduct that continues to embarrass women’s
\nsports. This situation has been and will continue to be handled
\nlegally and professionally. My focus remains far beyond individuals
\nwho lack discipline, professionalism, and self-control – inside or
\noutside the ring. I have spent my career representing myself, my
\nfamily, and the sport of boxing with class, integrity, and respect.
\nI will continue to do so. I want to congratulate Most Valuable
\nPromotions and Netflix on an event that continues to raise the
\nceiling for women’s combat sports, and I look forward to continuing
\nto be a positive force in the evolution of the sport.\u201d

MVP condemned Shields\u2019 actions and issued a ban on her from all
\nevents until further notice.<\/p>\n

\norganization. \u201cMVP maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for
\nhostile, threatening, or aggressive behavior toward fighters,
\nstaff, media, or guests at any of our events. Physical altercations
\noutside the ring or cage are unacceptable in any MVP environment.
\nMVP does not condone, tolerate, or accept Claressa
\nShields<\/a>\u2019 behavior in that setting and it reflects poorly on MVP
\nand women\u2019s sports, which we have worked tirelessly to uplift.
\nEffective immediately, Claressa
\nShields<\/a> is banned from all MVP events until further notice.
\nThere is a time and a place for fighter tension and banter, but to
\nphysically attack a fellow athlete while there as a guest inside a
\nprivate VIP area is unacceptable. MVP would like to thank venue
\nsecurity for their swift response in addressing and de-escalating
\nthe situation and appreciate Alycia Baumgardner not retaliating and
\nfurther amplifying the situation. We remain committed to
\nmaintaining a safe, respectful, and professional environment for
\nall participants and attendees at our events and will continue to
\nenforce these standards without exception.\u201d<\/p>\n
