If one thing is inevitable about any Scott Coker-led MMA promotion
\nit\u2019s this: There will be a tournament.<\/p>\n

\nas-yet-to-be-named organization that will launch next year behind a
\nteam of investors and familiar faces from the entertainment
\nindustry. At the time, details were scarce, but the former Strikeforce<\/a>
\nand Bellator
\nMMA<\/a> leader has since offered some more insight into the
\nfledgling promotion in an interview with the New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\nwill be highlighted by \u201ca gauntlet of events that we produce in the
\nfirst half of the year.\u201d This includes a tournament that will
\nfeature a field \u201cway north of eight\u201d fighters. Coker, of course,
\nwas well known for producing tournaments during both his
\nStrikeforce and Bellator tenures.<\/p>\n
\naid in the star-building process.<\/p>\n
\nformat leads to new-star development,\u201d Coker said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s
\nsomething I think we\u2019re really good at: fighter procurement. I
\nthink we\u2019ve done it better than anybody else, but we will bring in

\nvery robust roster, let\u2019s say, in a year or two.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nStrike MMA, Coker also revealed that the number of expected events
\nshould increase annually for each of the first three years. \u201cNext
\nyear in 2027 we\u2019re going to do 12 events around the world. The year
\nafter it\u2019s gonna go to 18 and the year after it\u2019s gonna go to 22.
\nThat\u2019s kind of the plan right now,\u201d Coker said. \u201c\u2026There\u2019s really no
\ncountry (where) we can\u2019t go. We\u2019re gonna go to several countries in
\nEurope to start; we\u2019re gonna go to Asia and we\u2019re gonna come here
\nto North America and do fights in the San Francisco Bay area where
\nI live. Then we\u2019ll go to New York or L.A. \u2014 maybe we\u2019ll end up in
\nHonolulu if we do it right.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nnew promotion. That, coupled by his wealth of experience running
\nother organizations, could set this new venture up for success.<\/p>\n
\na team that I love and that we all get along. We\u2019re all going to be
\nin alignment when we announce this team,\u201d Coker said.<\/p>\n
\nbe impossible. I think a lot of people would have a hard time. But
\nyou know what? Over the last four decades, all that experience in
\nStrikeforce, all that experience in [Bellator] MMA, all that
\nexperience has led me to this point in my life where I can execute
\nthis. So I felt very, very good about it.\u201d<\/p>\nA Surplus of Funding<\/h2>\n
\neasily could have been more than the confirmed $60 million.<\/p>\n
\nthere\u2019d be a dilution issue between me and my partners,\u201d Coker
\nsaid. \u201cI didn\u2019t want the investors to have more control than we
\ndid. We want to have control of the company. So we turned away tens
\nof millions of dollars of investment. So we are well-funded, and we
\nare capitalized properly with a great group of investors, great
