According to Dana White, the announcement of the UFC 329<\/a>
\nheadliner had nothing to do with the
\nMost Valuable Promotions “Rousey vs. Carano”<\/a> main card.<\/p>\n

The Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>–Max
\nHolloway<\/a> rematch was confirmed on July 16 \u2014 just as Francis
\nNgannou<\/a> was making his walk to the cage to face Philipe
\nLins<\/a> at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The announcement came
\nduring a relatively nondescript
\nUFC Fight Night 276<\/a> card, which only fueled speculation that it
\nwas made at that time to take attention away from Most Valuable
\nPromotion\u2019s first-ever MMA card.<\/p>\n

Doing His Own Thing<\/h2>\n

White claims the timing of the McGregor-Holloway announcement
\ncoincided with the bout being finalized.<\/p>\n

“Not a coincidence,” White told Fred
\nTalks Fighting<\/a>. “I had a f\u2014king fight here that night. Anybody
\nwho thinks that I gave a s\u2014t what was going on anywhere else is out
\nof their f\u2014ing minds.<\/p>\n

“We announced it as soon as we got it done, and we were in the
\nmiddle of our event. (I don’t) give a f\u2014k what those guys are
\ndoing. You kidding me?\u201d<\/p>\n

The booking had been rumored for quite some time, and there was
\nspeculation that it was going to be revealed during the UFC 328
\nbroadcast one week prior. The Las Vegas-based promotion often makes
\nsignificant announcements during major numbered events, but that
\nwasn\u2019t the case this time around.<\/p>\n

UFC 329 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and marks
\nMcGregor\u2019s first Octagon appearance since July 2021.<\/p>\n
