\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> MENA returned on Sunday, as fights
\nin the lightweight and featherweight tournaments took center
\nstage.<\/p>\n

The
\nPFL MENA 9<\/a> main event was a featherweight quarterfinal fight
\nbetween Mohammad
\nYahya<\/a> and Mehdi
\nSaadi<\/a>. Both men came out looking to strike, with Saadi (7-2)
\nlanding hard leg kicks and Yahya (12-7) using his longer reach to
\nfind success at distance. The legs of “The UAE Warrior” were
\nheavily damaged as the fight went on, but Yahya never stopped
\ncoming forward and throwing punches. After 15 minutes of
\nback-and-forth striking, the judges preferred the work of Saadi,
\nwho took a split decision with scores of 30-27, 27-30 and 29-28.
\nWith the victory, the French fighter will take on Hamza
\nKooheji<\/a> in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

The co-main event saw lightweights Salah
\nEddine Hamli<\/a> and Ylies
\nDjiroun<\/a> go to battle. The sharp striking of Djiroun (25-9) kept
\nthe fight interesting at a distance. Hamli (11-1) was able to find
\nsome slight success in the clinch, but couldn’t get his opponent to
\nthe ground. Once he had space to work, Djiroun’s superior striking
\ncame through
\nas body shots folded Hamli, who was promptly pounded out<\/a> by “Broly.” The TKO stoppage officially came at 4:20 of Round 1, and
\nHamli will now fight Basel
\nAhmed Shalaan<\/a> in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Kooheji and Taha
\nBendaoud<\/a> clashed with a spot in the featherweight semifinals on
\nthe line. Kooheji (15-4) used his superior wrestling to constantly
\nkeep “Atlas Lion” on his back. Unable to get back to his feet often
\nor attack with submissions, Bendaoud (5-2) dropped a clear-cut
\ndecision after being controlled for 15 minutes as all judges scored
\nthe fight 29-28 in favor of his opponent.<\/p>\n

In a featured amateur strawweight fight, Zamzam Al
\nHammadi<\/a> took on Abeer
\nMansour Anwar Hassan<\/a>. It was a grappling-heavy affair that
\nfavored Al Hammadi, as she threatened with several tight
\nsubmissions. Hassan showed a lot of heart in surviving nine minutes
\nand winning the third round with hard punches on the feet.
\nUltimately, Al Hammadi advanced to 10-0 as an amateur and took a
\ndecision with a trio of 29-28 scorecards in her favor.<\/p>\n

The scheduled main card opener between Assem
\nGhanem<\/a> and Mohammad
\nFahmi<\/a> was canceled due to an injury to Ghanem. As a result,
\nFahmi will advance in the lightweight tournament and take on
\nAhmed
\nEl Sisy<\/a>, who was victorious in his preliminary fight.<\/p>\n

In preliminary action, Shalaan dominated Abdullah
\nSaleem<\/a> over three rounds to take a decision win with scores of
\n30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in his favor; El Sisy took a split decision
\nover Harda Karim<\/a>
\nafter 15 minutes of action with scores of 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28;
\nSaher
\nQasmieh<\/a> took a split decision over Hamad
\nMarhoon<\/a> with two of the three 29-28 scorecards being in his
\nfavor; Ahmed
\nAlbrahim<\/a> overwhelmed Ibrahim
\nMahmoud<\/a> with
\nan onslaught of punches<\/a> to win his pro debut by TKO at 2:47 of
\nthe third round; Butti
\nSuwaid Alameri<\/a> outworked fellow amateur featherweight Hamada
\nMohamed Osman<\/a> to take home three 30-27 scorecards in the
