Chimaev lost his middleweight title to Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> in a massive upset at UFC 328<\/a>
\nearlier this month. Costa had initially called for a matchup
\nagainst Chimaev after he lost to Strickland. <\/p>\n

However, Costa (16-4) has now changed his mind. \u201cBorrachinha\u201d
\nbelieves Chimaev won\u2019t be able to recover from the loss anytime
\nsoon. Meanwhile, Costa wants to be back in action as early as July
\nor August. The Brazilian is willing to fight at middleweight, light
\nheavyweight or even heavyweight. Costa gave his fans three
\npotential opponents to choose from: Sean
\nStrickland<\/a>, Josh Hokit<\/a>,
\nor Mike
\nPerry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Weighing His Options<\/h2>\n

\u201cI know many of you guys want to have me facing Gourmet Chen Chen
\nChimaev next,\u201d Costa said in a since-deleted post on Instagram. \u201cI
\ndon\u2019t think it\u2019s gonna happen. Why? Because he broke; I think he\u2019s
\ndone, I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll be back. And even he can grow and be
\nback, it will not be this year. So, let\u2019s move on. I have a bunch
\nof fights, great fights, great matches to do. I want to fight as
\nsoon as possible. I think August is an amazing date, even July. I
\ncan fight middleweight, light heavyweight, even heavyweight\u2026 Stop
\ntalking about Gourmet Chen Chen. I wished to fight him before he
\nlost. But mental strength is not one of his qualities. He has a lot
\nof problems to solve before he\u2019s back\u2026 Tell right here who you
\nthink I should fight. I will bring three names for you guys: Hokit,
\nheavyweight; Strickland, middleweight; Mike Perry<\/a>.

Costa suffered a decision loss against Strickland in 2024. Costa
\nhas since rebounded with consecutive upset wins over Roman
\nKopylov<\/a> and Azamat
\nMurzakanov<\/a>. Costa has been trading barbs with Hokit since he
\nwon a double bonus with a decision win over Curtis
\nBlaydes<\/a> at UFC 327<\/a>
\nlast month. Costa stopped a previously undefeated Murzakanov on the
\nsame card and accused Hokit of robbing him of his bonus. Meanwhile,
\nPerry has attracted Costa\u2019s attention with a brutal beatdown of
\nNate
\nDiaz<\/a> on the MVP MMA card earlier this month. <\/p>\n
