\nSchilling<\/a>\u2019s first mixed martial arts appearance in more than
\nsix years ended in unusual fashion at
\nPFL Brussels<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Schilling was on his back during a light heavyweight matchup
\nagainst Donegi
\nAbena<\/a> when his opponent headbutted him while inside guard.
\n\u201cStitch \u2018Em Up\u201d was visibly angry as the bout was halted due to the
\nfoul. The fight appeared ready to resume after referee Mike Beltran
\ntook a point from Abena, but Schilling decided to call it quits
\nwhen the fighters were repositioned on the canvas. As a result,
\nSchilling suffered a technical knockout loss due to retirement at
\nthe 36-second mark of Round 1.<\/p>\n

‘One of the Coolest Moments of My Life’<\/h2>\n

The former Glory Kickboxing standout reacted to the incident in a
\npost on Instagram.<\/p>\n

“One of the coolest moments of my life,” Schilling wrote. “Everything else is just noise. I know exactly who I am and so does
\nmy family. Most of you talking s\u2014t couldn\u2019t hold my jock strap. My
\nopponent also [knows] exactly who he is and that\u2019s on him. God
\nBless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schilling hadn\u2019t competed in MMA since Oct. 4, 2019, when he
\nsuffered a 36-second TKO defeat to Tony
\nJohnson<\/a> at Bellator 229. The 42-year-old Californian is 4-7 in
\nMMA overall, with his most notable victory coming via second-round
\nKO over Melvin
\nManhoef<\/a> in November 2014.<\/p>\n

The fight was Abena\u2019s pro MMA debut.<\/p>\n
