Not everyone counted Sean
\nStrickland<\/a> out against Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Strickland (30-7) challenged Chimaev for the middleweight title at
\nUFC
\n328<\/a> earlier this month in Newark, New Jersey. Strickland was a
\nmassive +450 underdog going into the bout. While Chimaev controlled
\nStrickland on the ground in the first round, the tide turned in the
\nsecond round. Strickland completely took over in the third round,
\nand Chimaev failed to mount a comeback despite a valiant effort in
\nthe championship rounds. Strickland earned a split decision victory
\nin one of the biggest upsets in recent
\nUFC<\/a> title fight history. <\/p>\n

Faith in Strickland Paid Off<\/h2>\n

While most expected Chimaev to dominate on the ground, many
\nconsidered Strickland the biggest threat to \u201cBorz.\u201d Among the
\nlatter was UFC Hall of Famer Donald
\nCerrone<\/a>. \u201cCowboy\u201d revealed he won $45,000 after betting $10,000
\non Strickland to win.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I won $45,000,\u201d Cerrone told The Schmo<\/a>. \u201cI put $10,000 on Sean.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cerrone also showed a screenshot of the betting slip as proof.
\nCerrone is not the only one who was confident about Strickland
\nupsetting Chimaev. Jorge
\nMasvidal<\/a> had also said that he would be betting the house on
\nStrickland. <\/p>\n
