While Carlos
\nPrates<\/a> has no plans of fighting again before he gets a title
\nshot, he would fight Michael
\nMorales<\/a> if he had to. <\/p>\n

Prates (24-7) demolished former welterweight champion Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a> at UFC Perth<\/a>
\nearlier this month to firmly establish himself as a contender.
\nHowever, Prates believes Ian Garry<\/a>,
\nwho previously defeated him, will challenge Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> for the welterweight title next. Prates is confident
\nthat he will be next in line for a title shot against the winner of
\nthe fight between Makhachev and Garry. <\/p>\n

According to Prates, Garry will likely challenge Makhachev at
\nUFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15 in Philadelphia. Prates has no issues waiting
\nfor a shot against the winner of the fight. However, that could
\nstall the
\nUFC<\/a> welterweight title picture until next year. If Prates has
\nto fight again in the meantime, he would pick undefeated Ecuadorian
\ncontender Morales (19-0).<\/p>\n

Considering the Possibilities<\/h2>\n

\u201cIf I have no choice, if I have to fight somebody, and then go to
\nthe belt \u2013 I think I will pick Morales,\u201d Prates said on the
\n“Pound 4 Pound\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cBecause it makes
\nsense, I\u2019m No. 2, he is No. 3. And then you get the winner against
\nthe winner of Ian and Makhachev.\u201d <\/p>\n

Makhachev won the title against Maddalena at UFC 322 last November.
\nMeanwhile, Prates knocked out former champion Leon
\nEdwards<\/a>, and Morales knocked out fellow contender Sean Brady<\/a>
\non the same card. Garry made his case with a dominant decision win
\nover former champion Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a> a week later. <\/p>\n
