It’s hard to imagine that 17 years ago, Alex
\nPereira<\/a> was still working at a tire shop and had serious
\nproblems with alcoholism. That’s when he decided to enroll in
\nkickboxing \u2014 a decision that changed his life.<\/p>\n

Since then, \u201cPoatan\u201d has achieved what seemed impossible for
\nsomeone who first put on gloves at the age of 21. After winning two
\nbelts in Glory Kickboxing and the
\nUFC<\/a>, he will seek something that no fighter has achieved to
\ndate on June 14: a UFC title in a third weight class. To do this,
\nPoatan will have to beat Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nin the co-main event of of the
\nUFC White House<\/a> card.<\/p>\n

\u2018Something Very Special\u2019<\/h2>\n

In an interview with UFC on Paramount+, \u201cPoatan\u201d highlighted the
\nsymbolic weight of the possible achievement, classifying the belt
\nas something unique in his career. The Brazilian stressed that,
\nunlike other titles in the organization, this one would have a
\nspecial value because it represents his entire journey, marked by
\nchallenges and overcoming obstacles to reach the top of the
\nsport. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, it will be something very special. Unique,\u201d Pereira said.
\n\u201cThis will only happen once, it’s a unique belt. Many have the UFC
\nbelt, but this one is different, so it will symbolize everything
\nI’ve been through, all the difficulties to get there.\u201d<\/p>\n
