Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> is willing to risk taking damage to execute his game
\nplan against Ilia
\nTopuria<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Interim champion Gaethje (27-5) challenges Topuria (17-0) for the
\nlightweight title in the main event at
\nUFC White House<\/a> on June 14. Gaethje believes the most important
\nthing he needs to avoid against Topuria is compromising his
\nposition. <\/p>\n

Topuria is coming off consecutive knockouts over Alexander
\nVolkanovski<\/a>, Max
\nHolloway<\/a> and Charles
\nOliveira<\/a>. Gaethje believes all three fellow legends made the
\nmistake of going on their back foot against Topuria. With Topuria
\nbeing known for his long combinations, Gaethje saw his opponents
\nretreating after the first couple of punches. However, Gaethje is
\nabsolutely adamant about going forward against Topuria. \u201cThe
\nHighlight\u201d says he is even willing to risk taking some damage to
\navoid going backwards.<\/p>\n

Forward at All Costs<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s position,\u201d Gaethje told UFC on Paramount+<\/a>. \u201cThey got compromised. They got put
\non their back foot. They got put on their heels on his second shot,
\nwhen he was in the middle of a five-punch combination. That\u2019s
\nsomething that I cannot do. I will move forward this fight\u2026 And if
\nthat puts me into more dangerous positions, then I have to do that
\nstill. This is how I will fight this fight.\u201d
