McGregor is scheduled to return to action after five years in a
\nwelterweight matchup against Max
\nHolloway<\/a> (27-9) at UFC 329 on July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in
\nLas Vegas. However, Nurmagomedov doesn\u2019t think McGregor will show
\nup on fight night. In case McGregor does show up, Nurmagomedov
\nbelieves he will lose to Holloway. The PFL lightweight champion
\nbelieves five years is too long of a layoff for McGregor. However,
\nNurmagomedov believes MMA will benefit if McGregor manages to win.
\nAccording to Nurmagomedov, McGregor will bring more fans to the
\nsport with his exceptional mic skills.<\/p>\n

Good for the Sport<\/h2>\n

\u201cFirst of all, I don\u2019t believe he is gonna come,\u201d Nurmagomedov told
\nHome of Fight<\/a> \u201cIf he will, I don\u2019t believe he\u2019s
\ngonna beat [Holloway]. Because five years he stayed away from the
\nsport, this is too much, very long. If [Conor] beats [Holloway], it
\nwill be good for MMA. He will begin to talk and more fans come
\nback.\u201d<\/p>\n

While McGregor (22-6) has never been on good terms with the
\nDagestani squad, Nurmagomedov has enough reason to be skeptical
\nabout his return even otherwise. McGregor hasn\u2019t fought since
\nbreaking his leg in a trilogy loss against Dustin
\nPoirier<\/a> in 2021. While \u201cNotorious\u201d recovered within a year, he
\nstrayed far away from the discipline of a professional athlete.
\nHowever, that didn\u2019t stop him from teasing a return multiple times,
\nalbeit it never came to fruition. McGregor was even booked to fight
\nMichael
\nChandler<\/a> at UFC 303 in 2024, only to pull out due to a toe
\ninjury.   <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov (21-0) will look to defend his lightweight
\ntitle against fellow undefeated fighter Archie
\nColgan<\/a> (13-0) at
\nPFL New York<\/a>on July 31 at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New
\nYork. <\/p>\n
