\nMakhachev<\/a>\u2019s upcoming fight announcement is seemingly
\noverdue. <\/p>\n

Makhachev (28-1) recently attended PSG\u2019s Champions League victory
\nmatch against Arsenal in Budapest, Hungary. Makhachev revealed that
\nhe would be going into fight camp immediately after, eyeing a
\nreturn in August. Makhachev also acknowledged Ian Garry<\/a>
\n(17-1) as the frontrunner for the next welterweight title shot
\nagainst him. While Makhachev also mentioned that there are other
\ncontenders, the Dagestani star doesn\u2019t plan on parting with his
\nbelt.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight after here I\u2019m going to camp,\u201d Makhachev told UFC on TNT
\nSports. \u201c[Return likely in] August. I will be ready. Lot of
\ncontenders but No. 1 is Ian Garry<\/a>. We
\nstill have couple of more [contenders] who want to take the belt
\nbut I don\u2019t give no one.\u201d <\/p>\n

A Variety of Contenders<\/h2>\n

Garry has contenders like Carlos
\nPrates<\/a> and Michael
\nMorales<\/a> in the race with him. However, Prates recently said
\nthat Garry would fight Makhachev in August. The
\nUFC<\/a> has yet to officially announce the fight. However,
\nMakhachev\u2019s latest comments seem to confirm Prates\u2019 claims.<\/p>\n

Makhachev defended his lightweight title four times, the most in
\nthe history of the division, before moving up to welterweight.
\nMakhachev dominantly defeated Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a> to win the welterweight title at UFC 322<\/a>
\nthis past November. Meanwhile, Garry has 10 UFC wins while
\nsuffering his lone professional loss against fellow contender
\nShavkat
\nRakhmonov<\/a>, who is now recovering from an injury. \u201cThe Future\u201d
\nhas rebounded from that loss with wins over Prates and Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a>. <\/p>\n
