Nolan closed as a betting underdog going into his lightweight clash
\nagainst Fares Ziam<\/a>
\nat
\nUFC Fight Night 278<\/a> on Saturday in Las Vegas. Nolan outclassed
\nZiam on the ground while holding his own on the feet to earn a
\nunanimous decision win. This was Nolan\u2019s fifth straight victory
\nafter his lone professional loss in his 2024 promotional debut.<\/p>\n

Nolan made it to the Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a> with the
\nreputation of a highly touted prospect. In his UFC debut against
\nNikolas
\nMotta<\/a>, however, Motta derailed Nolan\u2019s hype train by knocking
\nhim out a bit over a minute into the fight. Nolan revealed that he
\nwas inexperienced and doing a lot of things wrong as a 23-year-old.
\nHowever, the Aussie doesn\u2019t want to take away from Motta\u2019s
\nperformance. As his stock fell, he rediscovered his love for the
\ngame, slowly building himself back. \u201cBig Train\u201d claims he felt no
\nfear of losing going into his clash against Ziam. Nolan said in a
\npost-fight interview:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo pressure at all,\u201d he remarked. \u201cNot even an ounce of pressure
\non me for this one. I went into my debut with super hype,
\n23-year-old train. And I got caught\u2026 I was cutting weight wrong at
\nthat time, I was a bit inexperienced. I was a perfectionist, coming
\ninto fight week on weight, just stupid things like that. I don\u2019t
\nlike to talk about it too much, \u2018cause I don\u2019t want to take away
\nfrom Motta. He caught me, he beat me. People started writing me
\noff, said I was too young, I wasn\u2019t ready. So, I fell back in love
\nwith the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nolan continued, \u201cI had to learn again who actually cares about me,
\nwhat is actually important. I have got a great team around me, I
\nhave a family, I have a wife\u2026 I genuinely, hand over heart, didn\u2019t
\ncare if I lost this fight. I obviously wanted to win, but I didn\u2019t
\ncare if I lost. For me, it was, I wanted to come out and prove to
\nmyself that I wasn\u2019t gonna be afraid of this guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tom Nolan is coming into his own and feels like everything is
\ncoming together for him after picking up his fifth win in a row.
