\nNickal<\/a> believes people often undermine the body of work he put
\nin before his Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a> career.<\/p>\n

Nickal is scheduled to fight Kyle
\nDaukaus<\/a> (17-4) in a middleweight clash on the
\nUFC White House<\/a> card on June 14. Like many of Nickal\u2019s previous
\nbookings on high-profile cards, some fans believe he didn\u2019t deserve
\na spot on the iconic seven-fight White House show.<\/p>\n

Nickal (8-1) tries not to take criticism lobbed towards him
\npersonally, noting that while he transitioned into MMA in 2021, he
\nhas been toiling hard on the wrestling mats for most of his life.
\nNickal does not entirely understand the hatred cast his way, as he
\ndoesn\u2019t call the shots regarding his matchmaking. The wrestler
\nclaims he has accepted every matchup that the UFC has offered him
\nso far. Nickal said in an interview with the UFC:<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it\u2019s natural for people to just be jealous in general. I
\nthink a lot of people think that I haven\u2019t earned this spot. What
\nthey don\u2019t realize is that I have been working at my craft and
\ndedicated to it since five years old. And they kind of discount all
\nof that work and effort that I put into wrestling and other combat
\nsports, that I was able to build a big following and have a lot of
\nsuccess\u2026 It\u2019s a little odd to me because I\u2019m not the one that makes
\nthe decisions on where I\u2019m at in the card or what cards I\u2019m
\nfighting at. Of course, I can say, like, \u2018Hey, I would like to
\nfight on this card, I would like to fight on that card.\u2019 But since
\nI\u2019ve gotten to the UFC, all I have done is, they tell me when I\u2019m
\nfighting and who I\u2019m fighting, and I say, \u2018Let\u2019s go.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Nickal is a former three-time NCAA Division-I champion wrestler
\nfrom Penn State. The uber-prospect had to prove himself twice on
\nDana White’s Contender Series<\/a> with first-round
\nfinishes to earn a UFC contract in 2022. Nickal finished three of
\nhis first four UFC wins before his hype train was derailed by
\nformer One Championship<\/a> double champ Reinier
\nde Ridder<\/a> last year. Nickal has since rebounded with a brutal
\nhead kick knockout of Rodolfo
\nVieira<\/a>.<\/p>\n
