During a press conference for the card last month in New Jersey,
\nHokit went on an unprovoked rant on Pereira. Ilia
\nTopuria<\/a>, who was sitting next to Pereira, stood up in his
\ndefense and threw a glass of water at Hokit. The American
\nheavyweight was escorted out of the presser before things could
\nescalate. Pereira believes Hokit crossed a line when he said, \u201cI
\nwill chama on your mama.\u2019 While Pereira has heard a lot of trash
\ntalk over the years, he believes people rarely bring up their
\nopponents\u2019 mothers. In Pereira\u2019s home country of Brazil, even
\nbetween kids, all is fun and games until someone\u2019s mother is
\nmentioned.<\/p>\n

Hokit has now been banned from the official press conference for
\nthe event on June 12 in front of the Lincoln Memorial. However,
\nthere is still a chance of Hokit trying to instigate trouble during
\nfight week. Pereira notes that it is easy for Hokit to run his
\nmouth when there is security on standby, ready to intervene.
\nHowever, Pereira claims he ran into Hokit ahead of their clash at
\nthe press conference last month. According to Pereira, he said
\n\u201cChama\u201d to Hokit, who allegedly just turned and walked away.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did cross the line… I’ve seen guys trash-talk the fighter,
\nthe father of the fighter, trash-talk whatever, but never
\ntrash-talk the mother,\u201d Pereira told Ariel Helwani. \u201cI don’t know
\nhow it’s in America, but in Brazil, on the street code, you never
\ntalk about the mother. When growing up, kids talk to each other,
\nfighting this and that, until we talk about the mother. Then even
\ntheir friends go, \u2018Yo, yo, he just talked about your mom.\u2019 And then
\nthat\u2019s the last thing to start a fight\u2026 It’s easy to say when
\nthere’s a lot of security around there, people to stop anything
\nfrom happening. But earlier that same day, he bumped into me, he
\nwas about three feet away from me. He looked at me, I \u2018Chama.\u2019 He
\njust looked, turned around, and kept going.\u201d<\/p>\n
