Hokit has recently developed animosity with Topuria leading up to
\ntheir respective fights at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a> on Sunday at the White House. Hokit went off on
\nTopuria at the pre-fight press conference at the  Lincoln
\nMemorial. Hokit briefly praised Topuria and apologized for previous
\ncomments before insulting the lightweight champion\u2019s ex-wife. Dana
\nWhite shut down the presser immediately after Hokit\u2019s comments
\nabout Topuria\u2019s ex-wife. <\/p>\n

Hokit claims he was trying to get Topuria riled up. While Hokit
\nfights at heavyweight, he believes the fighters in the lower weight
\nclasses were in a foul mood as they were already enduring weight
\ncuts during the press conference. Hokit hopes he got under
\nTopuria\u2019s skin enough to affect his performance against Gaethje in
\nthe main event.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou wanna be a weight bully? That\u2019s the consequence,\u201d Hokit told
\ntold The Schmo<\/a>. \u201cYou can\u2019t have fun at the
\npress conference. So now you\u2019re all serious, and you\u2019re getting mad
\nat this guy that\u2019s trolling you. We\u2019ll see if it plays a factor in
\nthe fight. I was kind of helping out Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> for America. I felt like that was necessary. I felt
\nlike it went well, though.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hokit has made a habit of justifying his beefs as a helping hand to
\nfellow American fighters. Hokit\u2019s feud with Topuria started at a
\npress conference last month. \u201cThe Incredible Hok\u201d made unprovoked
\nderogatory comments about Alex
\nPereira<\/a>\u2019s mother, which infuriated Topuria. Topuria, who has
\ndeveloped a new friendship with Pereira, stood up in his defense,
\nhitting Hokit with a glass of water. Hokit later claimed that he
\nhad laid the perfect setup for Sean O\u2019Malley, who also fights at
\nthe White House, to plot a future fight with Topuria. Hokit (9-0)
\nis scheduled to fight Derrick
