This past week, Alex
\nPereira<\/a> made it clear that he was not happy with what
\ntranspired in the
\nUFC White House<\/a> co-main event.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoatan\u201d came up short in his bid to become a three-division
\nchampion when he suffered a second-round technical knockout loss to
\nCiryl
\nGane<\/a> on June 14 in Washington, D.C. After the event, Pereira
\n
\nexpressed his frustration<\/a> that veteran official Herb Dean<\/a>
\nfailed to acknowledge that illegal strikes that Gane landed to the
\nback of the Brazilian\u2019s head during the finishing sequence.<\/p>\n

White discussed the situation during the
\nUFC Fight Night 279<\/a> post-fight press conference on Saturday.
\nWhile the UFC CEO didn\u2019t necessarily fault Dean, he recognized
\nPereira\u2019s anger as legitimate.<\/p>\n

“If you watch the fight it’s undeniable that he got hit with some
\nstrikes to the back of the head, but in the middle of the action,
\nwhen it’s going on and guys are rolling around trying to get out of
\nit,” White said (transcription via MMAjunkie.com<\/a>) “Sometimes the fouls happen.
\nMaybe Dean should’ve said, ‘Watch the back of the head’ or warned
\nhim or something like that. But I don’t know. I can tell you this:
\nAlex
\nPereira<\/a> is not a whiner. And Alex
\nPereira<\/a> doesn’t complain about things or make excuses after
\nfights. So I have to believe that he believed that. That he truly
\nbelieved that was true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not a Whiner<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s currently unclear if Pereira and his team will attempt to
\nappeal the result. The Brazilian has stated that he plans to remain
\nin the heavyweight division going forward.<\/p>\n

“That’s something [an appeal] they’ll have to work out with the
\ncommission. Not my area,\u201d White said. \u201cLike I said: Alex Pereira is
\nnot a whiner. The guy doesn’t ever complain about anything. So you
\nhave to believe if the’s that serious about it, that he’s upset
\nabout and believes it to be true.”<\/p>\n
