\ndebut at featherweight. <\/p>\n

Oliveira (24-4) made his featherweight debut against Andre Fili<\/a>
\n(25-14) at
\nUFC Fight Night 279<\/a> on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
\nOliveira survived some heavy kicks to the body from Fili in the
\nfirst round. However, \u201cLokDog\u201d hurt Fili with a 1-2 before
\nunleashing a brutal barrage of shots to secure a stoppage win late
\nin the second round. <\/p>\n

Eager to Climb<\/h2>\n

Oliveira subsequently called for a matchup against Josh Emmett<\/a>,
\nwho is No. 15 in the official
\nUFC<\/a> featherweight rankings. However, the Brazilian would
\nideally prefer a higher-ranked opponent as he himself was ranked
\nhigher at bantamweight.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the UFC want to give me Josh Emmett<\/a>,
\nTop 15, I\u2019ll be ready to fight with him,\u201d Oliveira said in a
\npost-fight interview with the UFC. \u201cBut I hope the UFC give me a
\nTop 12 opponent, but I don\u2019t know who. In my former division,
\nbantamweight, I was Top 12. So I think I deserve the chance to
\nfight a Top 12 opponent.\u201d <\/p>\n

Oliveira was undefeated in four UFC outings before falling to
\nMario
\nBautista<\/a> this past February in his first UFC main event.
\nOliveira had to cut approximately 50 pounds for his matchup against
\nBautista, likely motivating the move to featherweight. <\/p>\n
