\nCormier<\/a>\u2019s kids to Dagestan, and the rest is history. <\/p>\n

Makhachev\u2019s advice to Cormier for his kids was \u201csend 2-3 years
\nDagestan and forget.\u201d The phrase has since become a part of
\nsporting folklore, transcending the world of MMA. Makhachev
\nrecently revealed that almost every athlete he meets from any sport
\nreminds him of his famous one-liner. Makhachev claims tennis icon
\nNovak Djokovic once told him that his phrase is used in the 2026
\nChampions League winners Paris Saint-Germain\u2019s locker room.
\nMakhachev also recalls former boxing heavyweight champion Anthony
\nJoshua<\/a> seeking his approval to print T-shirts saying \u201c2-3 years
\nDagestan.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Lasting Impact<\/h2>\n

\u201cWhoever I meet, any athlete, any level,\u201d Makhachev told Adam Zubayraev<\/a>. \u201c..I met Djokovic,
\nDjokovic told me that in the PSG locker room they say, \u2018Hey, send
\nhim to Dagestan for 2-3 years.\u2019 I\u2019m not really sure how it spreads.
\nJoshua, the boxer, comes up to me and says, \u2018I want to go for two
\nor three years, can I make a t-shirt that says 2-3 years Dagestan?\u2019
\nI told him, \u2018Of course you can.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Makhachev (28-1) also admits that he has helped boost \u201csporting
\ntourism\u201d in Dagestan. The UFC welterweight champion revealed that
\nhis gym is mostly crowded with people wanting photographs or to
\njoin a training session. Makhachev is currently scheduled to defend
\nhis welterweight title against Ian Garry<\/a>
