Eddie Hearn has added another notable
\nUFC<\/a> star to his stable.<\/p>\n

Welterweight contender Ian Garry<\/a>
\nannounced that he has signed with Matchroom Talent Agency, the
\ncompany run by Hearn, ahead of his title shot against Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> at UFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations Matchroom Talent Agency you\u2019ve signed the future,\u201d
\nGarry wrote on Instagram. \u201cI\u2019m excited to announce Team Future just
\ngot bigger. Alongside Vayner Sports, I\u2019ll be joining The Matchroom
\nTalent Agency – who will now work across my commercial
\ninterests.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, UFC heavyweight champion Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> signed with Matchroom. The deals differ in the fact
\nthat Garry\u2019s agreement is only for marketing and commercial; the
\nIrishman is still represented by Vayner Sports for management.
\nAspinall, meanwhile, is represented by Matchroom in all aspects of
\nhis career. In recent months, Hearn has engaged in a bitter feud
\nwith UFC CEO Dana White, as the two men often trade jabs online and
\nin interviews.<\/p>\n

“Our relationship is different from Tom’s in that we were a lot
\nmore strategic with Tom the UFC side now,” Hearn said on “The
\nAriel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> “With Ian, this is comercially. This is
\nabout building his brand and driving revenue to him with partners.
\nThis is purely to work on his profile and his commercial brand.
\nWe’re really, really pleased to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garry has won 10 of his 11 UFC appearances and is coming off
\nback-to-back triumphs over Belal
\nMuhammad<\/a> and Carlos
\nPrates<\/a>. According to Hearn, Garry is a valuable addition to his
\nagency for myriad reasons.<\/p>\n

Superstar Attributes<\/h2>\n

“We’re a sports agency. We’re looking to represent high-profile,
\nglobal stars across sport and entertainment, not MMA,\u201d Hearn said.
\n\u201cBut of all the approaches that we’ve had, and I don’t think Ian
\nwas an approach, I’ve actually reached out to him because I know
\nhis team and everybody around him. I look at this guy for a long
\ntime, and I love his spirit. I love his personality. He’s a good
\nlooking, tall guy who speaks incredibly well. I long felt this guy
\nhas the attributes to be a superstar.<\/p>\n

“As I learned more about the sport, how good he is, we met, we had
\na lot of good, deep conversations and talked a lot of strategy. He
\nthen of course finally secured the fight and particularly with our
\nwork in understanding the country, the audience, and how passionate
\nthey are for their own, I just felt this was the guy that we wanted
\nto bring to the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
