Alexander
\nVolkanovski<\/a> believes Alex
\nPereira<\/a> absorbed illegal shots in his loss against Ciryl
\nGane<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Pereira (13-4) fought Gane (14-2) for an interim heavyweight title
\nearlier this month at
\nUFC White House<\/a>. While Gane finished Pereira in the second
\nround, it was not without controversy. \u201cBon Gamin\u201d was seen landing
\nmultiple illegal shots to the back of Pereira\u2019s head without any
\nwarning from referee Herb Dean<\/a>.
\nPereira has since called for fighters to raise their voice for
\nreferees to be held accountable for illegal shots. <\/p>\n

Speaking Out<\/h2>\n

Volkanovski has now extended his support to Pereira. Volkanovski
\nbelieves Dean should have severely warned Gane while he was hitting
\n\u201cPoatan\u201d on the back of the head.<\/p>\n

\u201cHerb, I love you, mate, but you should have been pretty vocal,
\n\u2018Watch the back of the head.\u2019… I don’t want to throw shade on
\npeople, but there was a lot of back of the head shots,\u201d Volkanovski
\nsaid on YouTube<\/a>. \u201cIf it was someone I didn’t like that
\ndid that, I’d probably be a lot more clear with how I’m saying
\nthis\u2026 We need to have that discussion, and we’re having that
\ndiscussion. Pereira’s asking for people to speak about it, here I
\nam.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dean recently released a video defending his stance regarding the
\nalleged back-of-the-head shots. Dean says he only considers blows
\nillegal in the Mohawk region of the back of the head. <\/p>\n
