Josh
\nHokit<\/a> believes Alex
\nPereira<\/a> has reached his level of success in MMA because of
\nfavorable matchups. <\/p>\n

Pereira is widely considered among the greatest fighters in the
\nhistory of MMA, judging by his accomplishments. However, Hokit
\nbelieves otherwise. According to Hokit, \u201cPoatan\u201d has scaled the
\nheights that he has because of stylistically favorable matchups.
\nHokit claims Pereira has never fought elite wrestlers. \u201cThe
\nIncredible Hok\u201d believes he can prove that Pereira is not the
\nlegend that he is perceived to be.<\/p>\n

  \u201cI don’t think Pereira’s career is what everyone says it
\nis,\u201d Hokit said on “The Ariel Helwani Show\u201d<\/a> \u201cThe accolades, the belts, no
\none\u2019s done that. But I feel like all of his matchups have been
\nfavorable matchups. He hasn’t faced anybody with my skill set or
\nanyone with a wrestling pedigree\u2026 I want to prove that it’s not
\nreal. I feel like I have the skill set to prove that… When you
\nbecome a legend, a lot of it has to do with timing. He did come
\ninto the sport at a really good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pereira (13-4) joined the
\nUFC<\/a> in 2021 and won the middleweight title against Israel
\nAdesanya<\/a> within a year. Pereira lost the title in their
\nimmediate rematch and moved up to light heavyweight. Pereira won
\nthe light heavyweight title and defended it thrice within a year
\nbefore losing to Magomed
\nAnkalaev<\/a>. The Brazilian reclaimed his title by knocking out
\nAnkalaev in 80 seconds in their rematch.<\/p>\n

Pereira subsequently moved up to heavyweight, where he fell short
\nin an interim title bid against Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nearlier this month at
\nUFC White House<\/a>. Meanwhile, Hokit (10-0) knocked out Derrick
\nLewis<\/a> on the same card. Hokit had tried to ignite an unprovoked
\nfeud against Pereira in the lead-up to the White House
\nevent. <\/p>\n
