\nTopuria<\/a>\u2019s first professional loss was a result of beating up
\nhis teammates. <\/p>\n

Topuria was a massive favorite when he put his lightweight title on
\nthe line against Justin
\nGaethje<\/a> earlier this month at
\nUFC White House<\/a>. However, Gaethje brutally beat down Topuria,
\nforcing his corner to throw in the towel at the end of the fourth
\nround. Hokit, who knocked out Derrick
\nLewis<\/a> on the same card, recently shared his theory for the
\nreason behind Topuria\u2019s upset loss. <\/p>\n

Hokit believes Topuria goes too hard on his teammates in training.
\nAccording to Hokit, Topuria\u2019s teammates are scared of getting hard
\nto the point where they don\u2019t challenge \u201cEl Matador.\u201d Hokit
\nbelieves Topuria couldn\u2019t perfect his distance management and
\ntiming as his teammates don\u2019t pose him any threat in training.<\/p>\n

Healthy Balance Needed<\/h2>\n

  \u201cTopuria makes the mistake of, maybe a trains a little to
\nhard in the sense of, he beats up his teammates, and so now the
\nteammates fear him, where now he’s not getting a certain look,\u201d
\nHokit said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.\u201d<\/a> \u201cThat’s the downfall of
\nTopuria. If you’re always hitting people in the liver, you’re
\nalways dropping your teammates, the teammates are kind of shelled
\nup or scared to hit you because, rightfully so, no one wants to be
\ndropped in practice\u2026 I do train hard, but don\u2019t think I would ever
\nhurt any of my teammates\u2026 You want a healthy balance in practice
\nwhere the guy is still trying to test you, so you have to practice
\nyour defense. I think that’s why his distance and timing were off,
\nbecause of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hokit (10-0) and Topuria (17-1) got into a feud ahead of the UFC
\nWhite House event. \u201cThe Incredible Hok\u201d told Alex
\nPereira<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019ll Chama on your mama,\u201d during a press conference.
\nTopuria, who was sitting beside Pereira, stood up to defend his new
\nfriend against Hokit\u2019s insults. Topuria threw a glass of water at
\nHokit, who was then escorted out of the presser. Hokit also mocked
\nTopuria\u2019s ex-wife at the pre-fight press
\nconference.  <\/p>\n
