\nStrickland<\/a> ahead of his maiden title bid in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Garry (17-1) believes he can pull off an upset and emerge
\nvictorious when he takes on welterweight champion Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a> (28-1) in the main event of UFC 330<\/a>
\nat Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Aug. 15. The Irishman is
\nhigh in confidence, especially considering the last two numbered
\nevents ended in big upsets.<\/p>\n

Ian Garry is looking to replicate Sean Strickland\u2019s
\nsuccess<\/h2>\n

Garry questions those who aren\u2019t giving him a chance against
\nMakhachev and points to Strickland\u2019s win over the previously
\nunbeaten Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a> at UFC
\n328<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf people think when Sean Strickland goes out and beats Khamzat
\nChimaev and upsets the apple cart, and no one expected, no one can
\nsit here and think that it’s impossible that I can beat Islam
\nMakhachev<\/a>,\u201d He told Paul Browne.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Future\u201d added that he\u2019s a far more well-rounded fighter than
\nStrickland and that the combination of his skills and intelligence
\nwill be challenging for Makhachev to handle.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything, I’m a far more dangerous threat. I’m far more
\ncomplete and I have way, way, way more ways of winning that fight.
\nI am the most dangerous opponent for Islam Makhachev, and it’s my
\njob to go out and prove that. My mindset, my vision, and my fight
\nIQ\u2026 Three things that can’t be taught. You either have them or you
\ndon’t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garry is coming off decision wins over former champion Belal
\nMuhammad and Carlos Prates, while Makhachev won the welterweight
\ntitle by beating Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a>. Furthermore, while the former is motivated by
\nrecent underdog victories, the latter is looking to surpass
\nAnderson
\nSilva<\/a> by breaking the record for most consecutive UFC wins.<\/p>\n
