Craig Jones didn\u2019t have much to say when Islam

\nNurmagomedov<\/a> brought up the jiu-jitsu vs. combat sambo debate
\nwith him.<\/p>\n

Jones is considered one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners of
\nrecent times. He has humorously taken shots at combat sambo
\nrepeatedly, claiming to have found the answer to elite wrestlers
\nlike Makhachev and Nurmagomedov. Moreover, Jones has been an
\nintegral part of multiple Australian fighters\u2019 camps leading up to
\nfights against wrestlers.<\/p>\n

However, he found himself on the losing side when Jack
\nDella Maddalena<\/a> put his welterweight title on the line against
\nMakhachev at UFC 322<\/a>
\nlast November. Despite Jones\u2019 assistance, Della Maddalena was
\ndominated on the ground for five rounds by Makhachev, who then
\nconfronted the grappling coach about his jiu-jitsu superiority
\nclaims.<\/p>\n

While Jones didn\u2019t say it to Makhachev\u2019s face, he thought he had

\nNurmagomedov, who started listing occasions where Makhachev
\ntriumphed over fighters who had trained with Jones. \u201cThe Eagle\u201d

\njiu-jitsu now?\u2019 I was thinking in my head, \u2018You didn’t get a
\nsubmission, bro. Mission accomplished on my behalf.\u2019 Afterwards,
\nIslam came up, and he was nice about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones then clarified that he never helped Hooker, who was submitted
\nby Makhachev. The light-hearted debate aside, the Australian
\nrevealed Volkanovski is setting it up for him to train with the
\nDagestani contingent someday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think one day we\u2019re gonna link up and train together,\u201d he added.
\n\u201cAlex was trying to make that happen. Then Khabib came over. I feel
\nlike Islam has a better sense of humor than Khabib. I didn’t know
\nhow that was going to go. Khabib came over, and he was just
\ncounting names out. He was just like, \u2018Volkanovski twice. Dan
\nHooker. Now, Jack. You need to say something good about Sambo.\u2019 I
\nwas like, \u2018Whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn’t coach Dan Hooker. That’s 3,
