\nPoirier<\/a> is genuinely dealing with mental health issues.<\/p>\n

Poirier was recently arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta
\nInternational Airport for threatening to fight a police officer
\nwhile drunk. Currently out on bail, the former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> star has since opened up about
\nhis alcoholism and depression.<\/p>\n

Sean Strickland explains why he changed his opinion on Dustin
\nPoirier\u2019s struggles<\/h2>\n

Strickland (31-7) initially went off on Poirier (30-10) for
\nclaiming to be depressed. The UFC middleweight champion said that
\n\u201cThe Diamond\u201d has no right to be depressed as he\u2019s rich and
\nwell-loved, while those less fortunate battle each day.<\/p>\n

However, Strickland has since changed his stance after speaking to
\nPoirier. He is convinced that the former interim champion honestly
\nregrets his actions and isn\u2019t just trying to clean up his image in
\nthe media. Strickland wrote on X:<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to Dustin and he is legitimately messed up by his actions
\nI thought he was just doing PR clean up tbh.. I guess not everyone
\nis a POS like me lol So yeah I repent and I am sorry Dustin. Hope
\nbudlight does the right thing with this one. He deserves the
\nhelp\u201d<\/p>\n

Strickland also urged Poirier\u2019s sponsor, Bud Light, not to abandon
\nhim for this stray incident after other sponsors cut ties with him.
