Two weeks before her title defense at Karate Combat 62\u2014scheduled
\nfor July 24 in Miami against Juliana
\nVelasquez<\/a>\u2014Aline
\nPereira<\/a> was surprised by her brother, \u201cPoatan,\u201d with one of the
\nbiggest gifts she has ever received. On his birthday of July 7, per
\nsources close to the situation, the current UFC heavyweight gave
\nhis younger sister a house in Connecticut, near their training camp
\nof Teixeira MMA & Fitness.<\/p>\n

Gifts that change a life<\/h2>\n

On a since-deleted Instagram Stories<\/a>
\npost, the Karate Combat champ wrote, \u201cThere are gifts that change a
\nlife. Today, you gave me one of them. Thank you, little brother,
\nfor so much love and generosity. May God repay you twofold for
\neverything you do for me. Happy birthday! I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old flyweight has bounced back and forth between
\nkickboxing, Karate Combat and MMA since debuting in the LFA in
\n2022. Her most recent appearance in any combat sport came in May
\nwhen she took home a decision over Jade
\nMasson-Wong<\/a> at the inaugural MVP MMA event. That put her on the
\nfirst win streak of her career, although all of her professional
\noutings in MMA have heard the final bell.<\/p>\n

As a Karate Combat participant, she first appeared in 2024 to knock
\nfellow MMA expat Dee Begley<\/a>
\nout in the opening frame. She went on to stop Amanda
\nTorres<\/a> early the next year, and in July 2025, captured its
\nfirst title by earning a decision over Fani
\nPeloumpi<\/a>. This bout on July 24 at Karate Combat 62 is to be the
\nfirst defense of her 125-pound throne, and she will be facing
\nanother ex-MMA fighter in Velasquez.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoatan\u201d lost in his last UFC outing, appearing at the UFC White
\nHouse event in June and succumbing to strikes from Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nfor the interim heavyweight belt. The former middleweight and light
\nheavyweight titlist attempted to become the first three-division
\nchampion in company history, and since his defeat, has suggested he
\nplans on remaining at the highest weight category for at least one
\nmore match.<\/p>\n
