\nSteveson<\/a> has the potential to redefine mixed martial arts.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Olympic heavyweight wrestling gold medalist is set
\nto make his debut in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> at
\nUFC 329<\/a> at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11. Ahead of his
\nfight against Elisha
\nEllison<\/a>, his coach has hyped up what he\u2019s capable of.<\/p>\n

\nSteveson<\/a>\u2019s olympic wrestling background fuels UFC
\nexpectations<\/h2>\n

Steveson won Olympic gold in heavyweight wrestling at the Tokyo
\nGames in August 2021 and subsequently flirted with the idea of
\njoining the UFC. He turned pro last year and, under the mentorship
\nof Jon
\nJones<\/a>, has extended his overall mixed martial arts record to
\n3-0, winning every fight via first-round finish.<\/p>\n

Expectations are sky-high for Steveson as he prepares to make his
\nOctagon debut and coach Jackson believes the Olympian could emerge
\nas a transformational figure in the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think, if you’re a fan, you’re gonna need to tune in to see what
\ncan this guy do,\u201d Jackson said about Steveson on the UFC 329
\n\u201cEmbedded\u201d video series. \u201cHe already won the Olympic gold medal at
\nheavyweight in wrestling. That is so hard to do, I can’t even tell
\nyou. Where is the ceiling? What can he accomplish? What can he
\ndo?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson, who has coached some of UFC\u2019s biggest names, including
\nGeorges St.
\nPierre<\/a>, Rashad
\nEvans<\/a>, Holly Holm<\/a>,
\nand Jones, further said about Steveson, \u201cI’ve worked with most of
\nthe greatest fighters to ever do this game, and his athletic
\nability is unprecedented\u2026 The way he thinks about things, how smart
\nhe is, how coachable, you need to tune in now to see where the
\nceiling for this guy is. He might be redefining what this sport
