\nYanez<\/a> says his coach was instrumental at both keeping him out
\nof danger and finding the finish in his return to winning ways in
\nthe
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yanez took on Cody
\nGarbrandt<\/a> in a bantamweight matchup at
\nUFC 329<\/a> in Las Vegas. After trading punches in the early
\nmoments, Yanez knocked out the former bantamweight champion with a
\ncrisp combo less than three minutes into the first round.<\/p>\n

While Yanez was previously doing his training camps between
\ndifferent gyms, he has settled at Fortis
\nMMA<\/a> in Dallas since last year. He credits his head coach,
\nSayif
\nSaud<\/a>, for his win over Garbrandt.<\/p>\n

Adrian Yanez reveals the advice from Sayif Saud that changed
\nthe Cody Garbrandt fight<\/h2>\n

When Garbrandt initially came out all guns blazing, Yanez
\ninstinctively wanted to stand and trade with him. However, he then
\nheard Saud\u2019s distinct voice guiding him back to his game plan. He
\nreveals that he also went for the finishing sequence on Saud\u2019s
\ninstruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, for me, it\u2019s the coaching\u2026 Since I started working with
\ncoach Sayif, hearing his voice, it\u2019s so distinct, you can hear it
\nthrough any crowd,\u201d Yanez said in a post-fight interview. \u201cSo as
\nsoon I heard, \u2018Move, get out of there, don\u2019t. Stop.\u2019 I was like,
\n\u2018Yes, you\u2019re right, coach. I\u2019m being an idiot right now.\u2019… He hit
\nme with that first flurry and I was like, \u2018I\u2019m gonna bite down and
\nfight.\u2019 Then I was like, \u2018Wait, this is exactly what he wants.\u2019
\nRight as I skidded out, coach Sayif told me to get back on the
\nplan. And as soon as coach Sayif called for it, I went for it, I
\nlanded it, and I got the knockout.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yanez (18-6) returned after a 15-month layoff this past March, when
\nhe fought Ricky Simon<\/a>
\nto a majority draw. The win over Garbrandt (15-8) marked Yanez\u2019s
\nfirst win in two years. Meanwhile, \u201cNo Love\u201d has now dropped three
\nof his last four outings.<\/p>\n
