\nChandler<\/a> has shut down claims that Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a> went into
\nUFC 329<\/a> knowing that he was injured, insisting that the
\nIrishman still wants to fight him.<\/p>\n

McGregor\u2019s return following a five-year hiatus ended in
\ndisappointment as he suffered a knee injury seconds into his
\nrematch with Max
\nHolloway<\/a> at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While the former
\ntwo-division champion is set for another stint on the sidelines as
\nhe recovers from the injury, Chandler sees McGregor eventually
\nreturning to the Octagon, potentially against him.<\/p>\n

Michael Chandler explains why he believes Conor McGregor wanted
\nto compete at UFC 329<\/h2>\n

After McGregor\u2019s return to the UFC ended in anticlimactic fashion,
\nChandler came to his defense. The former Bellator
\nMMA<\/a> champion dismissed the claim that McGregor had an injury
\ngoing into UFC 329.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would be absolutely surprised, like the most surprised on the
\nplanet, if Conor just showed up for a paycheck, limped in there and
\nsaid, \u2018I don\u2019t care, I\u2019ll give you guys one minute, shave my head
\ninto a mohawk, show up, do the intros and then just bow out a
\nminute later,\u2019\u201d Chandler said in an Instagram post. \u201cYou can say
\nwhat you want about Conor, but one thing he is not, is a quitter,
\none thing he is not, is a bamboozler. The body is unpredictable and
\nevery fight is unpredictable and if you look at Conor, (he always
\ncomes out with a kick),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Chandler, who is yet to face McGregor despite starring opposite the
\nIrishman on \u201cThe Ultimate Fighter\u201d and being booked against him
\npreviously, still believes that \u201cNotorious\u201d wants to fight him
\nafter their 2024 bout was canceled.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe he wants to fight me; I believe he tried to fight me; I
\nbelieve that\u2019s how the negotiations went, other plans were made,
\nbut the honor and the integrity of wanting to stick to and be a man
\nof his word since he pulled out of that fight back in 2024,\u201d he
\nexplained. \u201cI know everyone is disappointed, but keep on watching;
\nthis ain\u2019t the last you\u2019re gonna see of Conor McGregor and I\u2019m
\nexcited to see how it plays out.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGregor has one fight left in his UFC contract. He has confirmed
\nthat he will undergo surgery for his knee injury, insisting that he
\nwill return to fight out his contract.<\/p>\n
