\nMakhachev<\/a>\u2019s coach, Javier Mendez, has hailed one of his
\nstudents’ ability to mimic Ian Garry<\/a>
\nahead of the upcoming welterweight title clash in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Makhachev (28-1) looks to defend his 170-pound championship for the
\nfirst time against Garry (17-1) at UFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Garry
\nis known for excellent distance management and long-range strikes.
\nHowever, Mendez already has who he believes is the perfect fighter
\nto emulate the Irishman\u2019s style in their team.<\/p>\n

Islam Makhachev\u2019s coach names \u2018perfect\u2019 Ian Garry training

Mendez is confident that another one of his pupils, Usman
\nNurmagomedov<\/a>, can copy almost any style. The
\nAmerican Kickboxing Academy<\/a> head coach recently revealed that
\nthe
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> lightweight champion is one of
\nMakhachev\u2019s primary training partners, closely mimicking Garry\u2019s
\nstyle.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Usman] is the best sparring partner you want to have,\u201d Mendez
\ntold Submission Radio. \u201cUsman\u2019s at another level. People who have
\nnever seen him should tune in to this kid. Because he is special\u2026
\nUsman would be the one individual that can mimic almost anybody. He
\nwould be the closest to Ian Garry for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nurmagomedov (21-0) is considered among the best fighters in the
\nworld competing outside the UFC. He will exhaust his current PFL
\ncontract when he puts his lightweight title on the line against
\nArchie
\nColgan<\/a> (13-0) on July 31 at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.
\nHis brother, Umar, is already a top-ranked bantamweight in the
\nUFC.<\/p>\n
