\nSandhagen<\/a>\u2019s hamstring is a mess after his loss against Mario
\nBautista<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sandhagen (18-7) took on Bautista (18-3) in a bantamweight bout at
\n
\nUFC 329<\/a> in Las Vegas. While they were going toe-to-toe in the
\nfirst round, Bautista caught Sandhagen in a kneebar late in the
\nround, hyperextending his left leg. While \u201cThe Sandman\u201d survived
\nthe round, he immediately informed his corner that his leg was
\ncompromised.<\/p>\n

Despite Sandhagen\u2019s movement being evidently limited, he
\nsurprisingly out-landed Bautista in the second round. The latter
\nthen dropped Sandhagen in the third frame and accumulated control
\ntime to earn a unanimous decision win.<\/p>\n

Sandhagen details how a suspected hamstring tear altered his
\ngame plan<\/h2>\n

Sandhagen has since revealed a gruesome injury to his hamstring
\nfrom Bautista\u2019s submission attempt. He believes he tore his
\nhamstring in the opening round, limiting his arsenal for the rest
\nof the fight. The 34-year-old notes that fighting at the top level
\nallows little margin of error.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrickin bummer man. Losing in fighting is the most embarrassing
\nthing ever. Sucks,\u201d Sandhagen wrote on Instagram. \u201cPretty sure the
\nkneebar tore my hamstring in the first (getting MRI this week). It
\nkept locking out weird if I did certain things. So that kind of
\nmessed up my game plan. Congrats to Mario. He was well prepared.
\n1st was close but he won it with that knee bar. 2nd, I won
\n(surprisingly cause leg was jacked). 3rd, I wanted to have the same
\nround as before but got dropped. Gotta fight near perfect to win at
\nthe top. Something I need to get better at. Appreciate the love

This was Sandhagen\u2019s second loss on the trot, following a failed
\ntitle bid against Merab
\nDvalishvili<\/a> this past October. Meanwhile, Bautista has only
\nlost to Umar
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> in 11 outings since 2022 and has since rebounded
\nwith back-to-back wins.<\/p>\n
