\nMakhachev<\/a> is in for a tricky outing against Ian
\nGarry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Makhachev (28-1) is set to defend his welterweight title for the
\nfirst time against Garry (17-1) in the main event of UFC
\n330<\/a> on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
\nMakhachev\u2019s friend and mentor, Nurmagomedov, notes that his prot\u00e9g\u00e9
\nhas never faced an opponent as tall as Garry.<\/p>\n

Why Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Ian Garry is a difficult
\nmatchup for Islam Makhachev<\/h2>\n

Nurmagomedov admits that Garry\u2019s elusive style is a difficult
\npuzzle to crack. \u201cThe Eagle\u201d further notes that Makhachev, nearing
\n35, is six years older than Garry. According to the former unbeaten
\nlightweight champion, the stylistic threat from Garry, combined
\nwith the age difference, makes it a difficult matchup for
\nMakhachev.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve never faced an opponent this tall – 193 cm [6’4″],\u201d
\nNurmagomedov said on the “Smol Talk” podcast. \u201cWe’ll have to chase
\nhim, close the distance, grab him, and take him down. It will be a
\ndifficult fight. And Islam is almost 35. The stylistic matchup and
\nthe age together make this a difficult fight\u2026 I expect a hard
\nfight, assuming we don\u2019t get an early finish. Spending five rounds
\nwith this opponent won\u2019t be easy. The training camp will be
\ndifficult too, first because we have to find someone who can
\nimitate him.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nAmerican Kickboxing Academy<\/a> founder and head coach of the
\nDagestani team, Javier Mendez, recently revealed that
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> champion Usman
\nNurmagomedov<\/a> is helping Makhachev by mimicking Garry in
\ntraining.<\/p>\n

Garry has racked up 10 UFC wins and suffered his lone professional
\nloss to Shavkat
\nRakhmonov<\/a>, who is sidelined due to an injury. Meanwhile,
\nMakhachev is undefeated in 16 straight Octagon outings, including
\nsix title fights. The latter is tied with Anderson
\nSilva<\/a> for consecutive UFC wins, and a victory at UFC 330 will
\nsee the Dagestani set a new record.<\/p>\n
