Sports medicine physician Brian Sutterer believes there are early
\nsigns suggesting
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> star Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>‘s knee injury may not be as severe as initially
\nfeared.<\/p>\n

McGregor injured his knee while throwing the first strike of his
\nrematch with Max
\nHolloway<\/a> at
\nUFC 329<\/a>. The Irishman then struggled to stay upright and
\nrepeatedly fell over, prompting a referee stoppage over a minute
\ninto the bout. Dr. Sutterer, who has not treated or evaluated
\nMcGregor in person, has now shared his assessment.<\/p>\n

The initial suspicion was that McGregor blew out his ACL at UFC
\n329. The commentators speculated an ACL injury and UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite<\/a> did the same at the post-fight presser.<\/p>\n

McGregor recently shared a video of himself addressing fans,
\ndrawing a reaction from Dr. Sutterer on X. The latter noted that
\nthe former two-division champion not wearing a brace is a good sign
\nand that his seating position means it likely isn\u2019t a high-grade
\ninjury.<\/p>\n

\u201cLack of a brace (assuming he didn\u2019t just take it off for the
\nvideo) means no high-grade collateral ligament injury (MCL\/LCL).
\nMeans nothing about ACL and meniscus,\u201d Dr. Sutterer wrote. \u201cRange
\nof motion being at least 90deg of flexion and looking relatively
\ncomfortable is good.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGregor has updated fans on Instagram, revealing that the results
\nof his medical scans will soon clarify the extent of the injury.
\nWith one fight left on his current UFC contract, “Notorious” has
\nvowed to stick with his new lifestyle despite the loss, focus on
\nrecovery and return to fight out his contract when fit.<\/p>\n
