\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>, and a new theory has surfaced
\nas to how.<\/p>\n

Khabib\u2019s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, is a revered pioneer
\nof mixed martial arts in Dagestan, Russia. Abdulmanap\u2019s childhood
\nfriend recently weighed in on his elite conditioning.<\/p>\n

A childhood friend says Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s extraordinary
\nconditioning may have shaped Khabib’s endurance<\/h2>\n

While Abdulmanap was naturally fit growing up, he didn\u2019t start
\ntraining in combat sports until later in life. When he started
\ntraining at an academy, he had to travel 13.5 miles every day on a
\nbicycle. Abdulmanap would then run for 5 miles, in addition to two
\nhours of wrestling training. His childhood friend believes this
\nextraordinary level of cardio was inherited by Khabib.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis functional fitness was on a very high level,\u201d Abdulmanap\u2019s
\nfriend told UFC Eurasia. \u201cHe had amazing stamina. Looking at him
\nnow, it\u2019s as if the functional fitness he had was passed down to
\nKhabib. I know because I saw it. I wrestled with him on the mat,
\nworking in competitions; I went everywhere with him\u2026 [Khabib\u2019s]\nfunctional fitness is just as sharp. Manap was no worse, perhaps
\neven better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Known for his suffocating wrestling pressure, Khabib (29-0) ran
\nthrough the UFC\u2019s lightweight division, winning the belt before
\ndefending it thrice. “The Eagle” then retired undefeated in 2020,
\nshortly after the demise of his father.<\/p>\n
