\nWalker<\/a> is not the type of guy who keeps his opinions to
\nhimself.<\/p>\n

Parked outside of the UFC\u2019s top 10 at heavyweight looking in,
\nWalker spoke with Brazilian journalist Laerte Viana<\/a> on
\nThursday to discuss the plight of his division. With no active
\nchampion\u2014Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> has stated he informed the UFC he will be coming back
\nsoon, but there is no date on the calendar\u2014and an interim title
\nback in the works again, Walker sees that the division may be wide
\nopen. Even so, he sees a chasm of talent in his class, while
\nholding off-and-on training partner Sergei
\nPavlovich<\/a> in extremely high regard.<\/p>\n

Walker first spoke about his own prospects, where he freely
\nadmitted that he is not where he feels he needs to be to challenge
\nthe best in his weight category.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to know which doors to open,\u201d Walker said in regards to
\nwhat heavyweight has to offer him in the immediate future. \u201cFor
\nexample, I don\u2019t think I\u2019m ready to fight anyone in the top five
\nyet. The level is different. I train with a top-three heavyweight,
\nso I know exactly what his level is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Pavlovich is a good comeback opponent for
\n[Pereira]\u201d<\/h2>\n

Further along in his interview, Walker made no bones about his
\nconfidence in his part-time teammate. With former two-division
\nchamp Alex
\nPereira<\/a> currently up at heavyweight looking for his next
\nchallenge, a pairing between \u201cPoatan\u201d and Pavlovich has been
\nfloated as a potential option.<\/p>\n

When asked how he sees a potential matchup between \u201cPoatan\u201d and
\nPavlovich, in case the UFC decides to pit their third-ranked and
\nfourth-ranked athletes against one another, the Brazilian answered
\nwithout hesitation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Pavlovich is a good comeback opponent for
\n[Pereira],\u201d Walker remarked. \u201cSergei is a heavyweight built like a
\ntank. Before, he wasn\u2019t really training with a proper team, but now
\nhe\u2019s fully committed and working with a structured camp in a big
\nteam. In my opinion, Pavlovich would run right through him. That\u2019s
\nexactly what he does here in the gym, and what he did to \u2018Xicao\u2019
\n[Tallison
\nTeixeira<\/a>]. I don’t think \u2018Poatan\u2019 has the frame to stop
\nhim.\u201d<\/p>\n
