\nSeptember was announced by ESPN
\nKnockout\u2019s<\/a> fighter-turned-commentator Gaston
\nReyno<\/a>, who declared on social media on Friday the first pairing
\nslotted into
\nUFC Fight Night 289<\/a>. The event, which will likely also be
\ntitled UFC Vegas 121, will go down at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on
\nSept. 26. That matchup, which is not expected to be the main
\nattraction, comes at 135 pounds between Norma
\nDumont<\/a> (13-3) and Ailin Perez<\/a>
\n(13-2). The Argentinian has since confirmed this potential title
\neliminator on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

War of the asses<\/h2>\n

The two ladies have been eying one another in the logjammed
\nbantamweight division since 2024, when Perez defeated Joselyne
\nEdwards<\/a> to push her win streak to three. Perez has called for
\nthe match repeatedly, even titling it \u201cthe war of the asses\u201d in a
\npast interview with
\nMMA Junkie<\/a>. Dumont has suggested that the matchup has been
\npresented to her prospective foe in the past and was turned
\ndown.<\/p>\n

Brazil\u2019s Dumont is coming off a decision loss to the aforementioned
\nEdwards in April, which snapped a considerable win streak. Along
\nthe way, she won matches at featherweight before the division was
\nshuttered, and picked up three straight victories at 135 pounds
\nfrom 2024 to 2025. Since getting her chin checked by Megan
\nAnderson<\/a> in her promotional debut, Dumont has gone to 11
\nstraight decisions.<\/p>\n

Perez comes into this high-stakes affair on the longest winning
\nstretch of her professional career, with six in a row leading up to
\nthis battle. All six have come at 135 pounds\u2014she did miss weight
\nwhen facing Darya
\nZheleznyakova<\/a> but the promotion counts it as a bantamweight
\ncontest\u2014therefore she technically sits in a tie for the
\nsecond-longest win streak in women\u2019s 135-pound history along with
\nRonda
\nRousey<\/a>. Only Amanda
\nNunes<\/a> (nine) won more consecutive bouts in the division.<\/p>\n
