Kamaru
\nUsman<\/a> is disappointed with one of the judges\u2019 scorecards in his
\nloss to Dricus Du
\nPlessis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Usman (21-5) faced fellow former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> champion du Plessis (24-3) in a
\nmiddleweight tilt in the main event of
\nUFC Oklahoma City<\/a>. The latter landed more significant strikes
\nfrom the onset, with barely any wrestling success for Usman. While
\nthe former welterweight king found a second wind in the later
\nrounds, it was too little too late, and du Plessis earned a
\nlopsided unanimous decision victory.<\/p>\n

Usman explains why he disagrees with Sal D’Amato’s scorecard
\nagainst Dricus Du Plessis<\/h2>\n

While he accepts the result, “The Nigerian Nightmare” is bewildered
\nby one of the scorecards. Judges David Sutherland and Mike Bell
\nscored the fight 49-46 in favor of du Plessis, while judge Sal
\nD\u2019Amato had it 50-45 for the former middleweight champ.<\/p>\n

Usman finished strong in the final round and had a strong showing
\nin the third frame as well. He can\u2019t comprehend what D\u2019Amato was
\nwatching and also revealed that his left eye was compromised in the
\nsecond round, which made it difficult for him to assess the
\ndistance to shoot for takedowns. While du Plessis\u2019 fist was closed
\nin the punch that compromised Usman\u2019s vision, the South African\u2019s
\nthumb appeared to graze the eye. However, the fight was resumed
\nafter a brief pause as the shot was deemed legal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m no sorry loser, but I mean, 50-45? What were the judges
\nwatching? He\u2019s a big boy, and I knew he was going to be tough.\u201d
\nUsman said in his post-fight interview with Daniel
\nCormier<\/a>. \u201cI said it all week. He is a tough dude. Early on, I
\nthink it was a punch or a thumb, or kind of one of those weird
\npunches where you get the thumb in the eye. So, it was tough for me
\nto kind of gauge the distance and really commit to getting in on
\ngetting the legs. But he is a tough dude\u2026 Hats off to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Usman was coming off a unanimous decision win over Joaquin
\nBuckley<\/a> at welterweight that saw him rebound from a three-fight
\nslump. In the same post-fight interview, he revealed that dropping
\nback down to 170 pounds remains an option after he picked up his
\nsecond defeat at 185 pounds.<\/p>\n
