Poirier has openly expressed his dislike for Chandler previously,
\nwhich ramped up in the aftermath of their 2022 clash in the

\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>. “The Diamond” slammed the
\nformer Bellator<\/a>
\nchampion for the repeated use of illegal moves like fish-hooking.
\nWhile they\u2019ve since buried the hatchet, Poirier wants to see
\nChandler hang up the gloves.<\/p>\n

Michael Chandler\u2019s UFC future questioned by former rival Dustin
\nPoirier<\/h2>\n

Chandler is 2-6 in the UFC, with wins over Dan Hooker<\/a>
\nand Tony
\nFerguson<\/a>, and his last victory came all the way back in 2022.
\nHe is on a four-fight skid and recently teased a move up to
\nwelterweight following a first-round knockout loss against Mauricio
\nRuffy<\/a> at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Poirier believes moving up a weight class is a terrible idea for
\nChandler considering the damage he is already taking at
\nlightweight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all due respect, we’ve buried the hatchet and shook hands,
\nbut Michael Chandler, what are you doing?\u201d Poirier said on the “Deep Waters” podcast. \u201cNo, I’m just jumping back in about
\nretirement. That just came to my mind, and he definitely should
\nretire. I saw a thing say — I don’t know if this is, like,
\nofficial news — but he said he might move up to welterweight. If
\n155ers are stopping you and, you know, you’re taking all this
\ndamage, what do you think 170 is going to do?\u201d<\/p>\n
