Dustin
\nPoirier<\/a> is no longer associated with Bud Light following his
\narrest for public drunkenness.<\/p>\n

After starring in commercials and publicly representing the
\ncompany, the former
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> interim lightweight titleholder
\nrevealed that Bud Light cut ties with him after his arrest at
\nHartsfield\u2013Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Poirier believes
\nit was for the better and that he didn\u2019t need the \u201cpoison\u201d in his
\nlife, having committed to sobriety long-term.<\/p>\n

The former UFC interim lightweight champion details the
\nfinancial fallout from his arrest and commitment to quitting
\nalcohol<\/h2>\n

Poirier recently opened up about Bud Light, the alcoholic beverage
\ncompany he previously represented as a brand ambassador, cutting
\nties with him following his arrest. The American got into an
\naltercation with a police officer, who he threatened to fight and
\nhurled a racial slur at, and was subsequently released on bail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey terminated my contract immediately,\u201d Poirier told Ariel
\nHelwani. \u201cIt\u2019s all good. I don\u2019t need that f*cking poison in my
\nlife. It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on
\nthe deal with them, which is a few hundred thousand dollars. But
\nalso, if I\u2019m representing something, if I\u2019m advertising something
\nthat I\u2019m not going to be taking part in, promoting stuff — it\u2019s
\njust, it is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the arrest, Poirier has looked to make amends, revealing his
\ndesire to reach out to the police officer involved in his arrest.
\nFurthermore, he has given up drinking altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly. I\u2019m
\nnot one,\u201d he added. \u201cSo, if you can drink responsibly, have fun,
\ndrink a Bud Light, drink whatever the hell you want. Be
\nresponsible, have a good time. I\u2019m not that person.\u201d<\/p>\n
