Tom
\nAspinall<\/a> says recovering from multiple eye surgeries was more
\npainful than anything he has experienced, including a
\nvasectomy.<\/p>\n

The
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> heavyweight king discussed the
\naftermath of his bout against Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\nduring a recent podcast appearance, where he revealed the extent of
\npain and inconvenience he faced due to his eye surgeries.<\/p>\n

Tom Aspinall\u2019s eye surgeries and Ciryl Gane fight aftermath
\nexplained<\/h2>\n

Aspinall’s UFC
\n321<\/a> bout against Gane ended in a no contest after multiple
\naccidental eye pokes left the heavyweight champion unable to
\ncontinue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had three [eye] surgeries,\u201d Aspinall said on the \u201cGreat
\nCompany with Jamie Lang\u201d podcast. \u201cI had one on the left and two on
\nthe right. By the way, I\u2019ve had the snip, right? I\u2019ve had a
\nvasectomy, and I was thinking that has got to be the worst surgery
\never. Mate, compared to eye surgery, it is nothing. Honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aspinall further revealed that he had to remain awake while doctors
\noperated on his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s f*cking horrendous,\u201d he recalled. \u201cThey kept me awake. They
\nput something on to keep your eyeball open… they numb your eye…
\nand they\u2019re coming at you with a scalpel or knife, whatever it\u2019s
\ncalled, and you\u2019re just watching them slice your eyeball open. It
\nwas horrendous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aspinall admitted that his biggest concern immediately after the
\nfight was whether the damage would have long-term consequences.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, I was super scared about it, to be honest,\u201d Aspinall
\nsaid, noting that he initially feared the damage to his eye could
\nbe permanent. \u201cEspecially the first two weeks. Yeah, I was really
\nscared about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Brit then addressed the backlash he faced from fans for the
\nanticlimactic ending to the bout after many accused him of wanting
\nout of the fight following a strong start from Gane.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to sit behind your phone and comment on the
\ntoughness of a professional MMA fighter, then you don\u2019t really know
\nwhat you\u2019re talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aspinall has since revealed that he\u2019s ready to return to action,
\nwith a rematch against interim champion Gane expected to go down
\nlater this year.<\/p>\n
