\nconjunction with MMA matchmaker Dean Toole and newly created
\norganization Duel, they released a fight poster on Friday
\nannouncing an MMA event in August. Atop the \u201cDuel: Arena\u201d billing,
\none where there is but a single bout announced thus far, will see
\nMike
\nPerry<\/a> (15-8) throw down with Dillon
\nDanis<\/a> (2-0) at 170 pounds. The organization, formed by online
\ncrypto casino Duelbet, has indicated that there will be MMA matches
\nalongside kickboxing and boxing. It will all be contained in a ring
\nat the Kia Arena in Orlando on Aug. 29.<\/p>\n

Reaction to the fight itself has been overwhelmingly negative, with
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> cutman Brad Tate
\nas well as fighters Philip
\nRowe<\/a>, Charles
\nJohnson<\/a> and Jorge
\nMasvidal<\/a> all responding quickly to the Instagram announcement
\npost. Some have already campaigned to either join the card
\nthemselves or push for their friends or training partners to get
\ninvolved. Many have suggested that this fight will not stay intact
\nfor long. Of note, this event may be co-promoted by Masvidal\u2019s
\n\u201cGamebred Fighting Championship\u201d or \u201cGamebred Bareknuckle MMA\u201d
\nleagues, as the ticket site initially displayed the Gamebred logo
\nrather than something listing Duel itself.<\/p>\n

Mismatch of the century with Perry vs. Danis<\/h2>\n

Of the two men billed in the marquee, Perry has remained
\nconsistently active across a variety of combat sports since his
\ndeparture from the UFC in 2021. Having won just once in five of his
\nlast outings in MMA, Perry removed his gloves and kept fighting.
\nThe welterweight slugger stayed in the headlines by competing six
\ntimes for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship organization, one
\nwhere he claimed and defended the symbolic \u201cKing of Violence\u201d
\ntrophy for his stoppages over Eddie
\nAlvarez<\/a> and Jeremy
\nStephens<\/a>. Additionally, Perry dabbled in professional boxing, returning to a
\nsport in which he first joined in early 2015 when also just getting
\nstarted in MMA. His loss to Kenneth McNeil marked his sole boxing
\nmatch until he faced Jake Paul<\/a> in
\n2024 in a late-notice spot, stepping in for legendary boxer Mike
\nTyson. Perry succumbed to strikes from the YouTuber-turned-boxer in
\nthe sixth round. He also dabbled in a one-off mixed combat card
\ncalled \u201cTriad Combat\u201d where MMA fighters faced boxers in a
\ntriangle-shaped ring, winning in his lone appearance on the
\nscorecards.<\/p>\n

Along the way, \u201cPlatinum Mike\u201d founded Dirty Boxing Championship,
\nwhich mixes striking rules from various disciplines. Perry
\nofficially came back to MMA in May, when he was recruited by former
\nadversary Paul to compete in the co-main attraction of the first
\nMVP MMA show. Perry outdueled Nate Diaz<\/a>,
\nforcing the Stockton native\u2019s corner to call a halt to the match
\ntwo rounds in.<\/p>\n

A Misfit among Misfits<\/h2>\n

Danis has not competed in professional MMA since two 175-pound
\ncatchweight affairs in 2018 and 2019 under the Bellator MMA<\/a> banner. He did appear in an MMA-adjacent
\nshow of Misfits 22 in August 2025, but the organization implements
\na time limit for grappling exchanges and therefore was billed an
\nexhibition.<\/p>\n

Like Perry, Danis also tried to tag into influencer boxing. At a
\nMisfits card in 2023, he boxed Logan Paul<\/a>
\nand ended up getting himself disqualified after attempting
\ntakedowns and a guillotine choke in a boxing match. An irate Paul
\nbrother after the bout
\ndeemed<\/a> Danis a \u201ccoward\u201d while calling him, \u201ca dirty, dirty
\nhuman being.\u201d<\/p>\n

The much-maligned former jiu-jitsu player has been involved with
\nnumerous altercations at UFC events, to the point that he has been
\npermanently banned from attending all shows. He is currently being
\nsued by Logan Paul\u2019s fianc\u00e9, Nina Agdal, for defamation, in a case
\nrecently updated as Danis\u2019 attorney withdrew for a second time
\nafter Danis failed to pay his bills.<\/p>\n
