As it turns out, one victory in MMA outside of the Ultimate Fighting Championship<\/a> can be enough to
\nearn a call to come back.<\/p>\n

Management team First Round
\nManagement<\/a> announced on Friday that their client, Robelis
\nDespaigne<\/a> (6-2), has been re-signed to the UFC. The soon-to-be
\n38-year-old ex-kickboxer has no return date announced, nor an
\nopponent selected for his first appearance back.<\/p>\n

Despaigne ran the table in Karate Combat in one year<\/h2>\n

The Cuban appeared once in MMA following his UFC release, punching
\nout Junior dos
\nSantos<\/a> in May at the inaugural MVP MMA event. This gave the
\n6-foot-7 striker his sixth first-round knockout across his six
\nvictories. On the way, Despaigne joined the striking-only Karate
\nCombat league at the end of 2024 and punched out Dominik
\nJedrzejczyk in four seconds. Subsequent foes Marcos
\nBrigagao<\/a> and Roggers
\nSouza<\/a> could only survive a combined 20 seconds in the pit
\nagainst him.<\/p>\n

On the heels of those three speedy knockouts totaling a whopping 24
\nseconds of combat time, he entered into KC Last Man Standing
\ntournament to earn a heavyweight title shot. In one night, \u201cThe Bad
\nBoy\u201d outpointed former Glory light heavyweight champ Saulo
\nCavalari<\/a>, went on to wreck fellow UFC ex-pat Tim Johnson<\/a>
\nin 20 seconds and forced the doctor to save another former UFC
\nfighter in Zac Pauga<\/a>
\nafter beating him down for three minutes.<\/p>\n

The six KC wins, five by knockout, culminated in a title shot in
\nDecember. Facing one more fighter cast out of the UFC in Sam Alvey<\/a>,
\nDespaigne shattered the Cinderella story that was Alvey\u2019s post-UFC
\nrun by blasting him with a head kick to claim the organization\u2019s
\nheavyweight crown. On this same run, Despaigne attached himself to
\nthe ill-fated GFL promotion, who lured him into signing with them
\nby offering him a match against Todd Duffee<\/a>
\nin what was to be their first event in May 2025\u2014GFL has still yet
\nto run an event.<\/p>\n
